Clued-in hip-hop heads already know trumpet player Nico Segal from his impressive instrumental contributions to Traphouse Rock and other acclaimed projects by Chi-town live band hip-hop ensemble Kids These Days, as well as his inclusion in the Savemoney crew. In the wake of his crew's May split, he's now launched his solo career with a self-titled debut EP as Donnie Trumpet.

Heralded by reader-approved lead single "Zion," the EP finds Donnie showcasing his skills in front of (rapping and singing) and behind the mixing boards, as well as on the instrument from which he takes his name. He crafts all beats on the project, with assistance from Emilio Chestevez. Chance the Rapper and fellow KTD alum Vic Mensa are the set's two buzzworthy guest contributors.
