Ricky Dubs - Señor Dubs EP

Posted one year ago

Growing up in Chicago, buzzmaking beatsmith Ricky Dubs was exposed to immense amounts of blues, jazz and rock 'n’ roll, with a touch of soul and gospel sprinkled on top. He originally wanted to draw inspiration from one corner of that musical heritage with his next project, which would have been titled "Modern Day Blues Album," but quickly found the requirement to stick to a single genre stifling. Thus, the Señor Dubs EP was born.

The project's eight original cuts span all of the above-mentioned styles, while forming a cohesive whole. Reader-approved singles "Keep It 100" (with Mick Jenkins and YC The Cynic) and "Shot a Man" (with Roc Marciano and Knowledge the Pirate) offer a minute taste of the variety of dope sounds in store.

Other contributors to the project, all guests on which hail from either New York or Chicago, include Add-2, Maffew Ragazino, Nitty Scott, MC and Kami De Chukwu.
