The Roots - ...and then you shoot your cousin

Posted 2 years ago

It's been three long years since The Roots dazzled critics and listeners alike with undun, a concept album chronicling the rise and fall of a young hustler. With the follow-up, ...and then you shoot your cousin, the Philly phenoms will leave the streets behind to examine another equally complex and cutthroat world: that of the music industry.

The group's 11th album in total, it features (appropriately enough) eleven original tracks. Included are Greg Porn-assisted lead single "When the People Cheer" and its highly-rated follow-ups, "Tomorrow" and "Understand."

Joining Black Thought and company throughout the set are Dice Raw, Nina Simone, Raheem Devaughn and many more noteworthy artists. All production is handled in-house.
