Survival of the Fittest Album Review

Coming straight outta of Baton Rouge, the Trilll Fam held a listening party at the Asylum Records headquarters on Wednesday May 16th to preview their new compilation scheduled to be released on May 22nd. Lil’ Boosie, Webbie, and newcomer Foxx were all present to explain the concept behind every track and add their own personal southern commentary. The album titled Survival of the Fittest features the entire Trill roster including Lil’ Boosie, Webbie, Foxx, and 3 Deep (whose member Mouse handles most of the production.) An animated Webbie thanked all the journalists in the room for making it out-- despite a torrential down pour flooding the busy Manhattan streets, “We from the mud, ya feel me? Any lil’ support will help us.”

Some of the stand out cuts from the album included Wipe Me Down as well as the remix. The record is already getting major spins nationwide with its infectious hook and commanding production. You already know there’s a dance to accompany the radio-ready single. The D-boys out there shouldn’t get too upset however because Trill Fam certainly doesn’t forget about the streets, with joints like Say Round which takes you through four vivid hood adventures and Swangin' – an ode to how them boys like to ride down in Louisiana. Through all the tough talk and male bravado, Lil’ Boosie managed to squeeze in a song for the ladies with Thug Me Like That in which he explains what he needs in a woman. You have to hear it for yourself, trust me!

With a room packed full of New Yorkers, the Trill Fam were certainly not worried about the criticisms of down south music, “Man, this album is it right here, if everything is worked right. We should definitely get a plaque for this one. That’s what I’m concerned about,” explained an excited Webbie. Survival of the Fittest will be released May 22 via Trill Ent/Asylum records.

Go to www.youtube.com/group/WIPEMEDOWN, upload a video of yourself doing the ‘Wipe Me Down’ dance, and win a chance to be in Trill Fam’s new video. It’s that easy. So, don’t miss out. Weekly winners will be selected for additional prizing.
