Our very own Native Instruments Maschine MK2 review is still in full swing and we've got Dave in the Lab putting it through its paces. We'll have the full review completed shortly, but in the meantime Native Instruments is wasting no time adding even more Expansion Packs to its ever-growing library of sounds and kits for producers to play with. The newest release called Drop Squad has 35 kits and 120 patterns which are perfect for the Dubstep genre. Drop Squad will be a free download to users who register or update their Maschine software or it can be purchased for only $60 for existing users. There is also an iMaschine App version for only $1 so you can get your groove on the go. Check out the press release and our own Maschine MK2 unboxing and accessories videos below.

Native Instruments introduces DROP SQUAD

Berlin, October 16, 2012 – Native Instruments today introduced DROP SQUAD, a new MASCHINE Expansion that highlights the deep sound of dubstep and bass music culture. Bringing synthesis to MASCHINE and MASCHINE MIKRO for the first time, DROP SQUAD includes presets from NI’s MASSIVE synthesizer which now comes as a free download when users register or upgrade their MASCHINE software.

The 35 kits and 120 patterns in DROP SQUAD contain a host of punchy drums, low-end wobbles, FX, stabs, sweeps and deep basses. An additional 10 special kits add tribal and mechanical one-shots along with many wobbles, drills and synthesized ‘vowel’ sounds that will be instantly recognizable to fans of dubstep.

Over 50 included MASSIVE presets add a completely new element to this expansion. These dynamic presets have been created by top producers to cover the full spectrum of wobbles, growls, leads, sub basses, chords and atmospheres found in dubstep and bass music – all intuitively controllable through MASCHINE’s top row Macro knobs without having to open MASSIVE’s user interface.

A compact version of DROP SQUAD is also available for iMASCHINE – the groove sketchpad for iPhone / iPod touch.

DROP SQUAD is available at the NI Online Shop for $59 / 49 €.

The iMASCHINE version is available at the in-app store for $0.99 / 0,79 €.
