[Video] Serato Remote for iPad is Here!

Posted 3 years ago by

Today, Serato has announced that their new iPad companion App for Serato DJ and Serato Scratch Live is here and available at the App store for all Serato DJ's to enjoy. Introducing the Serato Remote iPad App which works in conjunction with any existing Serato Laptop setup to control cue points, loops, samples, effects, and much more right on the iPad touchscreen instead of leaning over to the laptop. Check out the video performance showing all that can be done on the Serato Remote iPad in conjunction with the Serato Scratch Live setup.

Serato Remote in Action

The video is self-explanatory in showing you all the Serato Remote App has to offer...

In my opinion, this Serato Remote App shows the limitations of using the iPad as a true DJ device. Of course its nice to have a touchpad to control certain functions, but the the fact that you have to use a laptop and an iPad at the same time is a bit of a turnoff for me. Until we can use the iPad in place of a computer for either Serato or Traktor it feels like too much unnecessary redundancy. You can program your keyboard or any other controller to do most of what this App does and for mobile DJ's it means you have to take even more gear with you for setup. At least its moving in the right direction...

Serato Scratch Live & Serato DJ Updates

In order to facilitate the new Serato Remote App, both Serato DJ and Serato Scratch live software get new updates that also includes a few cool features.

Scratch Live 2.5 Updates:
Pioneer DJM-2000Nexus plug+play support
MIDI Out LED Lighting – learn more on this Serato blog post

Serato DJ 1.2.1 Updates:
Support for Numark N4 + Vestax Typhoon controllers

Both of the new software versions include the normal stability and bug-fixes that come along with new software releases and Serato also throws in some free content from Loopmasters that can be used with the SP-6 sampler.

Check out the Serato website in the link below for more details and then head on over to the Apple App store to download the Serato Remote App for $19.99 if you are inclined to do so...
