Vestax Pad One Controller

Posted 2 years ago by

A little over two years ago, Vestax released the Pad One which is a completely MIDI Mapable and compact controller which works nicely for both DJ and production style needs.  The Vestax Pad One sports an all aluminum chassis, 12 Velocity Sensitive Performance Pads, an X-Y touch-pad, and the ability to make MIDI edits on the fly without touching the computer.  Check out our quick mini-video review and summary to see if the Pad One can fit into your own personal setup.

Conclusion / Recommended For

In Conclusion, the Vestax Pad One is a great MIDI mapable controller that works perfectly with any compatible DJ or production software. The build quality is excellent with a full aluminum body and durable buttons and knobs throughout. There are 12 Velocity Sensitive Performance Pads that are perfect for drumming and sampling. The X-Y Touch-pad also makes for really good mappings to control things like effects, loop parameters, or anything else that you can adjust with a slider or knob. Another really cool trick with the Vestax Pad One is the ability to make MIDI edits on the fly without using the computer. The only negative I could find with the Pad One is that there is no way to sync BPM information from the software to the device. The user will have to use the TAP button to manually sync the BPM of the controller with the software. Other than this small omission, the Pad One is perfect for DJ's who are looking for an extra or auxiliary controller to go along with their DVS or primary controller and the Pad One is also great for music producers who want a solid pad controller for making beats.

Pros & Cons

  • 12 Velocity Sensitive Performance Pads (4X Banks)
  • X/Y Touch-pad Makes for Great Mapping

  • Cannot Sync MIDI BPM Information
