Pro Audio Reviews
Pioneer has recently released the new S-DJ X monitor lineup that is affordable and squarely aimed at DJ’s who want good performance speakers with a small form factor. The Pioneer S-DJ X range comes in either the five-inch (S-DJ50X), the six-inch (S-DJ60X), or the eight-inch (S-DJ80X) woofer configurations and have an auto on/off mode to save on power when not in use. These speakers are powered internally by an AB amplifier and Pioneer says that the technology in the woofer design and front port found on these speakers improve air flow with “Groove Technology” for deep and vibrant bass. We now have a pair of S-DJ80X monitor speakers in the DJbooth Lab for the full review treatment so check out how they held up during our tests in the review below.
The Hercules Light Show DJ Headphones are nearly identical to the previously reviewed Hercules Pro M1001 headphones with the inclusion of internal lights on the outside of the ear cups that pulsate to the sound of the music. The lights are powered by an internal rechargeable battery which can be connected via USB to micro-USB cable when a refill is necessary. The Light Show headphones have a swivel and fold style design for the 50mm drivers that fit completely over-the-ears for good isolation.

UDG, a company known for its high-quality DJ bags and cases, has released a top-of-the-line Laptop/Controller Stand called the Creator. We recently reviewed the new Beats By Dr. Dre Mixr Professional DJ headphones and we were impressed with the build quality, the sound signature, and all the other features that worked well inside the DJ booth. The Beats Pro headphones have a completely solid steel/aluminum construction, an over-the-ear design for good isolation, and a folding-swivel construction for one-ear monitoring and storage. Watch the complete review video to see how they hold up through the tests.
Phiaton is a relatively new audio company that produces some good quality headphones for all types of users. The Phiaton Bridge MS 500 headphones have an over-the-ear design and premium construction materials throughout including a solid aluminum body and genuine leather earcups and headband for added comfort and durability. We’ve completed this review to see just how they hold up in the DJ booth.
The Beats by Dr. Dre headphone range includes all sorts of models ranging from over-the-ear active noise cancelling, to inner ear-buds that were created in conjunction with B-ball star Lebron James. The Beats headphone range as a whole has been given a bad rap amongst many DJ inner-circles, but here at DJbooth.net, we like to give all DJ gear a fair shake, no matter what name brand they come from. We’ve never reviewed any Beats headphones before, so we thought that the new DJ-inspired Mixr headphones would be the perfect place to start.
