Pioneer DJ has released the DDJ-SP1 USB MIDI controller that is designed to work in conjunction with the new Serato DJ 1.5+ software so users can trigger new effects and samples with the 16 velocity-sensitive performance pads, buttons, and knobs in a nice compact package. The DDJ-SP1 is designed to be used as a “sub-controller” that works in conjunction with a primary Serato DJ controller or a Mixer+DVS setup to offer the advanced features found on the popular Pioneer DDJ-SX controller to all Serato DJ users.
Pioneer DJ has finally teamed up with Serato to bring us a new four-channel professional grade DJ mixer that sports an internal Serato DJ Soundcard that is capable of Digital Vinyl Playback of up to four CD or vinyl timecode decks within the full new Serato DJ software now with DVS control. The Pioneer DDJ-SR is a compact and professional Digital DJ Controller that fits nicely within the new Pioneer DDJ controller range as a trimmed down two-deck version of the DDJ-SX which is still capable of controlling all four virtual decks of Serato DJ. The new Pioneer DDJ-SR has a smaller footprint than the DDJ-SX and adds a new PAD PLUS button that gives the 16-performance pads even more functions than before.
Pioneer has recently released the new S-DJ X monitor lineup that is affordable and squarely aimed at DJ’s who want good performance speakers with a small form factor. The Pioneer S-DJ X range comes in either the five-inch (S-DJ50X), the six-inch (S-DJ60X), or the eight-inch (S-DJ80X) woofer configurations and have an auto on/off mode to save on power when not in use. These speakers are powered internally by an AB amplifier and Pioneer says that the technology in the woofer design and front port found on these speakers improve air flow with “Groove Technology” for deep and vibrant bass. We now have a pair of S-DJ80X monitor speakers in the DJbooth Lab for the full review treatment so check out how they held up during our tests in the review below.
The Pioneer XDJ-R1 is a new all-in-one DJ system that can be used in many different ways and using many different combinations of media for music playback. The Pioneer XDJ-R1 can function as a two-deck DJ controller that can work with almost any DJ software of your choice (comes bundled with Virtual DJ LE). The XDJ-R1 can also function as a true standalone two channel DJ mixer, it can playback audio files directly from on-board USB flash/hard drives, and it can even be used in conjunction with Rekordbox and Remotebox in order to wirelessly control most of the DJ functions using compatible iOS & Android Wi-Fi enabled devices that are running the Rekordbox Pioneer DJ library software. The XDJ-R1 goes even a step further than the XDJ-AERO we reviewed late last year by adding dual CD slots in the front of the XDJ-R1 to allow users to playback music from CD’s. All of these functions can be performed on each deck individually meaning the DJ has the choice of using the XDJ-R1 in hybrid mode to mix between different tracks in various different playback modes.
