Novel - mood indigo
Here at The DJBooth we take great pride in championing young talent who are in the infancy stage of their career. As the artist grows, becoming more mature and complete, we grow with them. A perfect example of this harmonious relationship and historic track record is Novel, a Grammy-award winning singer/songwriter, producer and emcee, whose first appearance on our pages dates back to 2008.
Seven years and nine projects later, Novel has released his latest body of work, mood indigo. Previously-featured, Booth-approved selections "Die a Little" and "Letter to the Badge" both appear on the free 12-track mixtape, which is a combination of original work and inspired covers.
Well-known guests like Joe Budden, Crooked I, Leon Thomas and Lecrae pull in the casual fan, but under-the-radar contributions from Andy Mineo, Ashley Stevenson and newcomer Sterling will leave listeners talking. While Novel handles production duties on the project's four original records, musicians Alex Naylor (guitar), Bill Kahler (sax) and T. Reyes (guitar) add an extra layer of craftsmanship that makes Mood Indigo a complete effort.
