Overview:

The Reloop Neon is an official Serato Accessory Controller which allows users to unlock the advanced features within Serato DJ for those who are using DVS systems or DJ controllers without the infamous performance pads.  The Serato DJ features that can be controlled from the Neon surface are the SP-6 sampler (with playback-mode LED indicators for each slot), Pad FX, Slicer modes, hotcues, the new Flip Mode, and loop modes.

Setup & First Impressions

The Reloop Neon is an official Serato Accessory Controller which allows users to unlock the advanced features within Serato DJ for those who are using DVS systems or DJ controllers without the infamous performance pads. The Serato DJ features that can be controlled from the Neon surface are the SP-6 sampler (with playback-mode LED indicators for each slot), Pad FX, Slicer modes, hotcues, the new Flip Mode, and three different loop modes. There are also two endless push encoders for sampler volume control, track navigation, loop editing as well as loop Shift and loop roll functions. These two encoders have full metal posts underneath the rubber knob and the Reloop Neon is built very strong and tough. I even tried to rough it up a bit and the Neon never bends, creaks, or pops thanks to the thick plastic and the thin-low-profile design. The rubber performance pads are RGB backlit so the users can change the colors to indicate different modes or types of assignments.

Even though the Reloop Neon can control all four decks of pad goodness from a single device, users can also link multiple Neon's together using a small connector cable to give each deck its own control surface. When two of the Neon's are linked together, the user only needs to use a single USB cable to connect both devices to the computer, but it will require the use of two USB slots. The Reloop Neon is now available for only $149 each. Please see the Review video above for an in-depth look at the Reloop NEON controller.

Conclusion / Recommended For

In Conclusion, the Reloop NEON is an excellent Serato DJ Companion controller for DJ's who use a Digital Vinyl Setup or other Controllers that don't have the advanced functions and capabilities within the software such as Slip Mode. The NEON is compact, lightweight, and very durable in construction which makes it easy to take it with you on the go and also easy to fit into a small space. The eight RGB backlit rubber performance pads are great for drumming hot cues and samples or for unlocking the cool Slicer modes for performances. The NEON also has the best control of the SP-6 Sampler in Serato DJ by allowing users to visually check the LED indicators to view and change the play-style of the sample right on board the device. On the downside, the Reloop NEON does not come bundled with any type of DJ software and the user needs to already have Serato DJ unlocked via another Controller or DVS setup to use this with Serato. (The Reloop NEON is also a MIDI controller that can be programmed to work with any DJ software out there on the market today including Traktor.)
