The Canadian hitmaker has had one hell of a come up.

In 2016, Tory Lanez made it.

Six years after his debut mixtape, Tory had finally reached national notoriety. He co-headlined the Level Up Tour with A$AP Ferg, released his debut album to a warm reception, snagged a GRAMMY nomination for his hit single “Luv,” and even (allegedly) turned down a placement in XXL’s Freshman Class due to artistic integrity.

As Tory’s notoriety continues to grow, so has his financial success, leading him to be included in Forbes' 30 Under 30 list this year, with many reports clocking his net worth at between $1.5 and $2.5 million. For all the successes that he has enjoyed over the past year, it’s Tory's beginnings that make them all the more impressive.

In past interviews, Tory has been very candid about his homelessness during his teenage years and his proclivity for criminal activity as a means of making it out of poverty, and after the recent Forbes inclusion, Tory took to his Instagram to remind people just how far he’s come.

Cheers to making Forbes 2017 ... I started out begging for change ... literally tho

Yes, an Instagram post with a one sentence caption serves as yet another reminder of the awesome power of music. I will never get tired of reading this kind of story.

Regardless of how you feel about Tory’s music, he’s taken the opportunities presented to him and turned them into something that, even if he quit making music today, could potentially take care of him and his family for years to come.

Congratulations to Tory on his success, here’s hoping there’s plenty more where that came from.
