On New Year's day, Tory Lanez released New Toronto 2, a 13-track mixtape featuring guest appearances by A$AP Ferg and Rick Ross.

While the project was made available for stream on Lanez' SoundCloud—where it has racked up over six million streams—and for free download on his own website, it wasn't added to streaming sites like Apple Music or Spotify.

On Monday (January 23), the Interscope signee revealed plans to re-release the project, promising a "doper and more rare version."

To date, Lanez has accumulated 461k followers on SoundCloud and an additional 399k on Spotify. While Lanez' SoundCloud following was built on the back of all of his free material—five mixtapes, Fargo Fridays series entries—his Spotify following is owed to two hit singles ("LUV" and "Say It") and his 2016 debut album, I Told You. The real difference between the two, however, is Lanez' (and his label's) ability to properly monetize his material, which, to date, he's been unable to do on SoundCloud.

Assuming all of Tory's previously-released projects on SoundCloud contain no uncleared samples, Interscope would be wise to add all of them to Spotify and Apple Music. Maybe this is the first step?
