D.R.A.M.‘s Emotional Reaction After Kendrick Lamar’s “DAMN. Tour” Announcement

In an industry that prides itself on flaunting and projecting an image of success, D.R.A.M.'s words are a breath of fresh air.

D.R.A.M.'s life has changed quite a bit over the past three years.

After signing a record deal with Atlantic in 2015, the Virginia native rose to prominence thanks to his catchy single "Cha Cha"—which Drake creatively hijacked on his smash hit "Hotline Bling"—which he eventually followed-up with the Lil Yachty-assisted "Broccoli," a now 5x Platinum single off his Gold-certified 2016 debut, Big Baby D.R.A.M.

While signing a record deal, releasing a debut album and earning a plaque for a multi-Platinum single are all incredible, bragworthy accomplishments, none of them pale in comparison to the opportunity that D.R.A.M. was recently given to serve as a supporting act on Kendrick Lamar's upcoming "The DAMN. Tour," which kicks off July 12 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Following the tour announcement this morning (April 24), D.R.A.M. took to social media to reflect on how far he's come since his "struggle showcase" days back in 2014.

It's easier for an artist to be honest about their "flat broke" past if, three years removed from the day-to-day struggle of living life with no money, they now have a bank account full of broccoli, but in an industry build on flossing, flaunting, smoke and mirrors, where artists are constantly trying to make us all believe they are actually really that popular and really that successful, D.R.A.M.'s honest to goodness Facebook post is a total breath of fresh air.

D.R.A.M. might have been flat broke and starry-eyed, performing in "struggle showcases" at local bars in 2014, but two years earlier, he actually planted the first seed that blossomed this morning.

Never forget to speak it into existence, right Kendrick?
