Like the rest of us, Vic Mensa has seen a number of rappers rise up the ranks over the past year with domestic violence and rape charges attached to their profile and he's deeply disturbed by this growing trend.

"They're not problematic artists, they're cowards," he told Pigeons & Planes. "We get into this place of confusing, like, troubled and charismatic people with just cowards. Like, beating up women on video, as these rappers continue to do, and then their little fans continue to support them for it and it gets them poppin for it. It's not that he's a troubled artist, he's a pussy. That's whats going on."

Mensa refused to name any names, but in just the past year alone, Florida rappers Xxxtentacion (domestic abuse) and Kodak Black (rape, battery) have been in and out of jail for their alleged crimes, while Chicago rapper Famous Dex was caught on camera beating up his then-girlfriend.

Unfortunately, hip-hop's embrace of sexual assault is a topic we've covered extensively at DJBooth over the past few months, and while I'd love for this to be the last time it's written about on our pages, it's likely we'll be forced to revisit this conversation yet again in the near future.

In related news, Mensa will release his major label debut, The Autobiography, on July 28.
