On January 9, 2017, 21 Savage's "No Heart" single was certified Platinum by the RIAA. If it was up to the Atlanta native, though, the record would have never made the final cut for his Savage Mode album with producer Metro Boomin.

"There are certain songs where I was like, 'This shit wack as fuck, I don't want this shit on there,'" 21 explained to Genius rap journalist-turned-rapper Rob Markman, adding, "I wasn't finna put 'No Heart' on there. Metro just did what he did to the shit, sent it back to me, and I was like, 'Aight, it sound cool.'"

In addition to revealing that the second most successful song on the album after the Future-assisted "X"—which was certified 2x Platinum on February 22—almost hit the cutting room floor, 21 also talked about the volume of material the pair recorded over 18 months. "We probably got four other Savage Modes," said 21. "We was recording that shit for, like, a year and a half. That shit was supposed to come out before Slaughter King came out."

While it's more than possible Savage Mode, which itself was certified Gold in May, would have still been a success even without the inclusion of "No Heart," there is no denying that the song greatly elevated 21's profile, which, in turn, helped him sign an incredibly lucrative deal with Epic Records earlier that year.
