There is simply too much music and not enough hours.

Attempting to cover every notable and great album is difficult enough, but reviewing every notable and great song is simply impossible.

Instead of a futile attempt at covering everything, then, we’ve come up with the DJBooth Report Card: a simple, daily review of five recently-released records, using an A (incredible) to F (make it stop) letter grade system.

Along with a grade, each song will be accompanied by a brief sentence or two. Report Card isn't meant to be a deep dive nor profound analysis, but a daily appetizer for music scavengers seeking great recommendations and the newest, most notable songs to either bump or avoid.

dvsn — "Mood"

Daniel Daley or Maxwell? Yesteryear '90s R&B continues to be resurrected by dvsn for modern quiet storms and romantic playlists. If the season of handcuffs is truly upon us, Daniel Daley is making mood music that sounds sexy, sensual, and sultry. (B)

Lute — "Juggin'"

An unapologetic Southern rap tune by an everyday-man lyricist. Lute's candid, real-life depiction is filled with Dungeon Family and Nappy Roots nostalgia. Music for musing that burns the belly with the warmth of good whiskey. (B)

Mr. Probz — "Gone" ft. Anderson .Paak

Sometimes you just want to cuddle up in the center of a song that reminds you of a time buried beneath modernization. Mr. Probz and Anderson .Paak are old souls with an affinity for funky grooves and their union is a spirit-lifter that ascends eardrums into the clouds. (B)

Tee Grizzley — "Beef" ft. Meek Mill

A watered-down “First Day Out” with a solid Meek performance. Hype but not hype enough, beef shouldn't ever feel boring. Admittedly, I could listen to Tee Grizzley say “kamehameha” for the rest of my life, but not the entire song. (C)

Lil Pump — "Gucci Gang"

I’ve seen Waffle House chefs cook breakfast more exciting than Lil Pump. He's like a stale Migo, and no one wants a stale Migo. (D)
