I want y'all to be locked in to The DJBooth at all times. Not just because every pageview matters, but because we post so much music and the thought of you missing what could potentially be your new favorite song keeps me awake at night. I get paid to do this, so it's easy for me to listen to everything we feature, but for you, either a student or an adult with a job that isn't absurd, it might be hard to stay elephant glued to DJBooth. No worries, we've got you covered. Here are some of the dope songs you might have missed. You can thank me later.

Ugly Heroes - Naysayers & Playmakers

You know how I know you may have missed this one? Because I am an Ugly Heroes fan and even I missed it. I am a creature of habit. At my favorite restaurant in college, where my friends and I would dine every day (not even kidding, every day), I ordered a Chicken Parm Sub every fucking time (not even kidding, every time). I knew what to expect, but it was so fucking good that each time felt like the first. I could eat ten billion of 'em and be happy. That's how I feel about Ugly Heroes. For the most part, you know what you are going to get--a dope soul beat from Apollo Brown and some stellar bars from Verbal Kent and Red Pill--but the end result is so good, you don't need any surprises. They may stick to a formula, but it works. If it ain't broke don't fix it and "Naysayers & Playmakers" ain't broke. A million bonus points to Apollo for having the balls to sample Aretha and knocking it out of the park. God bless Mello Music Group, the real MMG. Oh, also... there is a new Ugly Heroes album later this month!!!

DJ EFN - Hood Banger

In my humble opinion, Fashawn is one of the most under-rated emcees around. The guy has been putting out dope music for years and nobody ever shows him love; except for this one guy named Nas. Fashawn won't be underrated for long, though, because he just signed to Nasty's Mass Appeal label. If you are late to the game, now's the time to jump on the bandwagon, and what better way to start than with DJ EFN's "Hood Banger." The only thing better than Fash's unmistakable, biting flow, is when it's paired with Wrekonize's brisk approach. Two dope, yet slept on emcees on one banger of a beat? How could I not include it here?!

Raury - Cigarette Song

You've gotta be kidding me right? I mean, this song is phenomenal. Like, where did this kid come from and how come he isn't super duper famous yet? If there was ever a person to keep on your radar it's Raury. This weekend, whenever I was home, I had Raury on repeat. Refreshing, engaging, and so unique. After checking out his other, past-released material, I was floored; there isn't anyone like him. For the sake of this piece, I'll stick with just "Cigarette Song," which is reason enough to be excited about his future musical output.

James Gardin - Clock In

While the others mentioned here are names I am familiar with, I have to admit, James' work is new to me. I don't know what all of his other material sounds like, but I'm interested in checking out more from him, and for an artist that's one of the best results a single DJBooth feature could provide. What makes me want to check out more is... well, James. He is very personable and overly charismatic on the mic. The 9-5 grind themed-song is a hip-hop staple, but I like the spin James puts on his turn. Instead of an aggressive, hardened entrance, he takes a more laid-back, smooth approach; it's a unique flavor. I could see myself bumping this tune around 3:30PM, back when I had an office job, to help get me to the end of the day. Simple, honest, and it puts a smile on your face; that's a bingo!

King avriel - thesis

A minute ago, I told you that King avriel was totally worth you time. So why aren't you spending your time listening to her new album, "thesis"?! I knew it was going to be good, but I was not expecting this. I mean, she has production from Oddisee for fucks sake. I love Oddisee! I said a lot more about her in a past full feature, but man she's talented, smart, thoughtful and it all comes through in her music without being too soft or too preachy. It's R&B and pop that is actually good for the soul, the ears, and the brain; something we are in dire need of if you ask me. She even added a cool booklet, which has explainations for all of her songs. Someone who puts this much time and thought into a project definitely deserves your time.

So there you have it, nothing fancy, just some dopeness you might have missed. If you mess with one, any, or all of these efforts, be sure to buy me a Chiptole gift card or give my number to Jhené Aiko. Also more importantly, be sure to rate, Tweet, and share your favorite selection. If you want more from any of these talented artists, the best way to let us know is by talking about it. Plus, wouldn't it be cool to see one of these releases jump to the top of our charts? It's the least you could do for the artists (and bloggers) who share with you the dopeness.
