"Unfortunately, during my incarceration, this CD was compiled without my approval," said Brown, via Hot 97 personality Miss Info's blog. "I heard this CD in its entirety for the first time just days ago and was devastated; riddled with grief over an album that was seemingly so carelessly orchestrated."

The 28-year-old Brooklyn native had previously left her former label Def Jam, which oversaw the release of three albums, to sign a new deal with Koch Records in 2007. Just a few weeks after signing the deal Brown began serving an eight-month prison sentence at Rikers Island for violating her probation, stemming from a 2004 incident in a Manhattan nail salon. While she was imprisoned, Black Hand teamed up with Koch to compile previously recorded material into "Brooklyn's Don Diva", Brown’s first in-store release since 2001's "Broken Silence".

Despite her fiery reputation, Brown has so far responded to the situation positively, working with Koch Records president Bob Frank to rectify the situation. "In another phase of my life and career I would have dealt with this situation with litigation, but for the benefit of my fans and in the wake of the profound spiritual cleansing I recently underwent in prison, I made the decision to settle our creative differences amicably,” Brown went on to say in the blog entry.

"I no longer represent Foxy Brown,” confirmed Black Hand CEO Chaz Williams during an interview on RockMeTV.com. Acknowledging the support he gave Brown as her primary spokesperson during her jail stint, Williams said, "I stayed with her throughout the prison situation. I was there through her whole incarceration. It was time for both of us to split and move on."

Brown and Koch Records have agreed to re-release Brooklyn Don Diva in approximately a month, this time with five new tracks and a much more extensive marketing campaign.

”In order to preserve my artistic integrity, the new release will have my stamp of approval and fingerprints all over it," said Brown. “My fans have waited seven years for an in-store release and deserve my very best.”

The re-release will be the prequel to Foxy's much-anticipated fourth studio album Black Roses, which is set to be released on Epic Records and currently has no set release date.
