How Do You Feel Lil Wayne & Drake’s (Pretty Weak Sauce) “Grindin”?

Man, thanks a lot, Weezy. Why do you have to drop a new single on a Friday afternoon and give me more work to do right now? It's like that teacher who gives you a pop quiz right before the weekend; just let me go already! Except instead of a quiz, we're talking about a potentially dope Drake-assisted single, Grindin. The song is aptly titled because doing extra blogging on a Friday afternoon is exactly what "Grindin" means; my life is so hard, right? But enough about me, let's get to the music.

Personally, I think it is kind of weird uninspiring to have both of your singles feature Drake (prophecy?), but I guess the formula works. The first go round, Believe Me, was actually pretty dope. A revived Lil' Wayne who's back to just straight rapping? Who would of thought.

But after a couple of listens, maybe Wayne isn't on the comeback trail; this Grindin song is weak. Weezy with a Migos-flow and a touch of Auto-Tune is damn near annoying; I could barely get through his verses. In fact, Wayne sounds so awkward over the beat; kind of like two different songs playing at once. Drake is alright, he is his usual consistent self, but if I didn't know any better I would have guessed that this was his song. He sounds much more natural over Boi-1da and Vinylz production than Wayne. This is a swing and miss in my book.

Annnnnnnnnnnd....I'm back to being less than optimistic about "Tha Carter V". Two singles, both featuring Drake, one is OK, and the other is doo-doo? "Tha Carter V" is shaping up to be, um, who the fuck knows?

Of course, this would be far from the first time DJBooth Nation disagreed vehemently with me. So, let's open the floor to discussion. Have at it...
