Download DJBooth's new App, The PLUG The DJBooth is proud to announce that Nikkiya will be rocking on our stage for this year's SXSW music festival in Austin. With a sultry cognac smoothed out vocal delivery, Nikkiya positions herself to become a mainstay in urban/soul music. Her music is a collection of life experiences channeled with a crunk southern soul delivery.

Working closely with her producer, Will Power, Nikkiya has grabbed attention for her standout features with the likes of Yelawolf, Rittz, Emilio Rojas and more while simultaneously building her own brand of eclectic, fearless and impossible-to-categorize solo work. Readying to release her upcoming SpeakHer Overload project, Nikkiya is a new voice that doesn't ask to be heard - she demands it.

DJBooth Hosted Projects: SPEAKHER

Have you previously performed at SXSW?

I have never been to SXSW; this is my first official SXSW showcase! As a matter of fact, I have never even been to Texas - but I hear they do it big, so I'm going to feel right at home!

What are you looking forward to most about the experience?

In my mind, I see SXSW like a modern Woodstock - like, all of us crazy musicians just getting together doing what we love...going hard at promoting our personal projects but really loving the whole music energy. So I know this is going to be fun and amazing! And the absolute best part is that, if you do it right, you can reach and touch other music-minded people and move your career forward. SxSW will be a welcome break from everything digital - like i am ready to see these musicians with my own eyes, hear them live and direct, feel the real energy and passion from their music...I cant wait to get on stage, move the crowd, share this gift and party with a bunch of other crazy musicians!!!! #CannotWait #GetWastedTour #AustinEdition

What fellow artists are you most excited to see perform?

As far as the DJ Booth stage, Rapsody - I've heard lots about her so I cant wait to see her, meet her, watch her do her thing...then there's my homie Emilio Rojas who I've worked with in the studio but have never seen him rock...so I'm ready to get to it...I hear there's a group called League of Extraordinary Gz - considering that I am an anGel with a capital G, I'd like to see my brothers from another mother do their thing as well.

My brother Rittz will be performing so I'll definitely be wherever he is. I also want to see KRIT and Mobb Deep - shout out to Havoc from Mobb Deep - we should be getting together to work soon. I hear Nas and Rozay supposed to be out there...if that's the word I'll definitely be in the mix!

And last but not least I want to see and meet the DJBooth representative and shake the shit out of that person's hand! The DJBooth goes hard for artists and I'm glad I'm in the loop! thanks for having me!!! #SXSW #DJBooth #2K12

What are you working on in the weeks/months to come that our readers/your fans should know about?

Right now we pumping my mixtape SpeakHer and then in the upcoming weeks, SpeakHer Overload, my mixtape with 5 additional records on it...it was scheduled for March 20, but i got caught up preparing for SXSW so the team thought it would be best to push it back a little bit... so it's looking like 4.20...

In the meantime, I'll continuously give music to the people...free songs here and there...I'm working on Nikkilla - the next project - coming summer 2K12... #StayTunedanGels
