Craving some pure, uncut underground freshness – you know, the kind of music that the phrase “real hip-hop” was invented to describe? Well, you’ve hit the jackpot. Today, The Darkest Cloud duo 1982 are back on our front page to stir up a little buzz for their forthcoming LP with The Lottery, a record that didn’t make it onto the final tracklist. Cooked up this past weekend “under the influence of Ciroc and other substances,” unreleased cut finds heavyweight DJ/producer Statik Selektah slicing and dicing a sample from somewhere deep in his record collection (I couldn’t ID it – can you?) as fellow Massachusetts native Termanology shows off his lyrical chops, spitting verses jam-packed with polysyllabic rhymes: “...rock choppin’, block rockin’, my stock poppin’, Xerox stockin’, chart-toppin’...” Statik and Term’s debut set as 1982 is scheduled to drop October 26, via Showoff/ST./Brick Records; those who send in a copy of the receipt after purchasing the album will receive a bonus “FREEep” featuring Lottery and more!
