50 Cent - Hustler

Producer:
Jake One
Album:

If 50 Cent continues to release singles at his current pace (This one is his sixth in the past month.), he will have liberated every cut on his forthcoming indie debut well before the project hits stores shelves. Whatever is behind his current promotional strategy, it ain’t generosity—as he reminds us on his latest jam, he’s a Hustler who prioritizes paper above all else. Here, Jake One sets a luxurious mood behind the boards, superimposing effervescent synth arpeggios and swanky brass stabs over an easygoing rhythm section. Curtis Jackson echoes the instrumental’s upscale vibe on the vocal tip, as well as its smoothness. In between cataloging his worldly possessions in laid-back verses, he speak-sings the record’s breezy chorus. An unknown director channels some old-school film noir imagery in the accompanying visuals. Animal Ambition is scheduled for independent release June 3. In the meantime, watch our pages for more fresh singles off the highly-anticipated set.
