50 Cent - Respect it Or Check It N*gga

Forever King Mixtape

Riding high off the positive response to his War Angel LP, a street release that harked back to the gritty sound that made him Eminem‘s favorite underground MC, 50 Cent is preparing to earn another round of plaudits with the release of Forever King, dedicated (nominally, at least) to the memory of Michael Jackson.  Recorded this past Thursday (the day of MJ’s passing) Respect It Or Check It N*gga finds 50 talking tough to all those who would stand in his way over an old-school, sampled beat by Frank Duke.  Though fans still hurting from the pop icon’s passing might find the tacked-on MJ shout-out with which 50 concludes the cut a little insulting, the track itself will doubtless be a hit with the rapper’s newly-rebuilt fanbase. Those digging 50’s recent return to form can download a copy of Forever King June 3rd, as well as picking up a copy of his long-delayed Before I Self-Destruct LP when it finally hits stores September 8th.
