Action Bronson - Thug Love Story 2012

The great thing about an Action Bronson track is that you never know what you’re going to get. A Bronson cut might be about strippers, delicious food, ‘90s wrestlers or maybe even ‘90s wrestlers f**king hookers on a bed made out of bruschetta. Well, standout selection Thug Love Story 2012 is, more or less, no different. Essentially two-tracks-in-one, producer Party Supplies opens the festivities with a minimal, doo-wop beat that halfway through flips into a more full but equally slow and soulful offering. Bronson follows the instrumentals with love-oriented verses that wouldn’t exactly feel at home in a romantic novel, instead telling the tale of a love that’s so dysfunctional it makes Natural Born Killers look like The Cosby Show: “So many unfamiliar faces that have come and gone / you’re a constant, f**ked you in the school closet.” Ah, the sweet romance of a young love in bloom. Digging this tale of thug love? Much more hookers and wrestling references await on Bronson’s just-released mixtape Blue Chips, available exclusively for streaming and direct download right here on The DJBooth.
