Add-2 - New Black Order

Last we heard from Add-2, he was challenging a hip-hop heavyweight’s audacious Tweets (“The 2nd verse of New Slaves is the best rap verse… OF ALL TIME IN THE HISTORY OF RAP MUSIC, PERIOD.”) on aptly-titled loosie Sorry Kanye but This Verse Is Better. The Chi-town buzzmaker’s latest promo single also happens to feature a lyrical callout to New Slaves, but the context is considerably more serious. A galvanizing sample from an interview with 1960s radical H. Rap Brown sets the tone for this fiery cut, which finds Add-2 calling for a New Black Order to challenge the entrenched forces of institutional racism. Beatsmith Def Soul complements the emcee’s revolutionary rhetoric with grimy keyboard loops and a dogged percussion rhythm. This lyrically incisive jam isn’t attached to a larger project, but we’ll keep you posted on Add-2’s plans as further details emerge.
