Amazing

With urban music taking over the Billboard charts, it’s rare to hear a young singer who dares to reach across genre boundaries. A fan of such styles as dance and indie rock in addition to rap, New York’s own Alex Young has begun to make her mark. On a remix to her new single, Cold, Young adds a hip-hop touch with 16 guest bars from Yung Berg and a club banger beat supplied by producer Mathew “Matlock” Robinson. Berg spits about his ice (does he have it?) and his lady with the help of Auto-Tune, which freezes up the stage for Alex to come on and croon. Her request for a boy to come closer and keep her warm is cozy enough to resonate well during the coming winter months. Check out more icy tunes from Alex Young’s debut album, Amazing, which will be available this January.
