UPDATE: “Sometimes” is no longer available to stream.

In early June, Andy Allo set the tone for a very UnFresh Summer with Down2Roll (HonestNotes Remix), the first of three monthly remixes of joints off the L.A.-based singer’s ‘09 debut album. For the second installment in the trilogy, HonestNotes puts his own spin on Sometimes, a joint describing the less-than-beautiful beginnings of a picture-perfect love affair (“Silently walked by, and I had to intro / ‘Cause he had toilet paper stuck to the bottom of his shoe.”). Whereas its predecessor was fueled by a funky, driving ‘80s-dance groove, this revamp finds Honestnotes foregoing club rhythms in favor of something gentler; resonant keyboard chords and airy electronic effects intermingle over a steady bass pulse, forming an appealingly breezy backdrop for Allo’s down-to-Earth verses and chorus. Feeling it? Then be sure to check back with us at the top of August for the thrilling conclusion of UnFresh Summer.
