Animal Farm ft. Talib Kweli - Test of Time

Album:
Culture Shock

Those not up on their revolutionary literature may think that Animal Farm is a strange name for a rap group, and make no mistake it is, but if you’re looking to make some seriously political and inspiring music, a George Orwell reference is a pretty good place to start. Making their Booth debut today with new release Test of Time, group emcees Hanif Wondir, Fury and Serge Severe draw on some serious classic hip-hop influences for their unique brand of unique lyricism, driven by group producer Gen.Erik’s jazzy and boom-bap-tinged beat. With a foundation like that it was only a matter of time before Blacksmith leader Talib Kweli joined the march and sure enough Mr. Kweli comes in strong, most notably throwing in a nod to his classic work on Soundbombing (ah, memories). If you think that this Portland crew has not only passed the test of time, but more importantly passed the test of DJ Booth ratings, be sure to comment below and pick up a copy of their new album, Culture Shock, which will be available for purchase May 17.
