Asher Roth - Turnip The Beet

Posted 3 years ago
Producer:
David Appleton
Album:
Ash Wednesday Series

For most emcees, finding a lane and building a fanbase inside that lane is imperative to longevity in the game. Asher Roth, however, has more lanes than a bowling alley. He broke out in 2009, with the frat anthem I Love College, but has since showed a more aggressive, lyrical side as evidenced on Truck North’s Capital Crime. On the Rik Cordero-directed Turnip The Beet, the PA native takes to the streets (and fast food spots) of New York to showcase his boom-bap style, rattling off bars over a swift Dave Appelton beat. The title isn’t the only clever wordplay Ash has in his arsenal; his relentless flow is sure to have you rewinding the cut to make sure every line is soaked up and understood. Turnip The Beet is not part of an album or larger release, but it is the latest entry in his Ash Wednesday Series.
