Atmosphere - Bob Seger

By | 2 years ago
Artist: Atmosphere
Track: Bob Seger
Producer: Ant

When I hear the name “Bob Seger,” my first two thoughts are “popular with my dad” and “featured in commercials for Chevy trucks.” Since Minneapolis hip-hop duo Atmosphere are neither, I wasn’t sure quite what they meant last month, when they took to Twitter to declare themselves “...the Bob Seger of underground rap.” To clarify the matter, they’ve unleashed a new promo single bearing the roots-rocker’s name. Though Slug‘s lyrics are bereft of Seger-related material save for an oblique reference to 1976 hit Night Moves, Ant takes inspiration from another of my father’s favorite artists on the production tip, flipping a sample from Genesis’ The Chamber of 32 Doors. Coincidence? Yeah, probably. This record is a loosie, but fans of the Rhymesayers twosome can, of course, keep it locked for all the latest.

Update: We have added the Andrew Melby-directed visuals for Atmosphere’s Bob Seger single, which was released in celebration of the start of the Welcome to Minnesota Tour.
