Audible Doctor ft. June Haze - Church Night (Remix)

The Spread EP (Vocal Version)

Audible Doctor isn’t your typical medical practitioner – for one thing, the NYC native churns out sick beats, not well patients – but his unorthodox approach certainly paid off back in January, when he introduced himself to readers with an acclaimed remix of Soul Khan‘s Shot Glass Magnified. Today, the Doctor’s back to work his soulful brand of medical magic once again on Church Day (Remix), a newly-leaked cut off the Vocal Version of his latest beat EP. A.D.‘s original instrumental, a wistfully dreamy mix of chopped samples and head-nodding percussion, gets a pitch-perfect lyrical accompaniment courtesy of Booth newcomer June Haze; in bittersweet verses, the Brooklyn representative revisits his days in the streets, mourning those who didn’t make it out but ultimately affirming that life is what one makes it: “The hood keeps yellin’, birthed in the hustle, growin’ up in the felons, but f*ck it this is life, you choose how to tell it.” Think this understated selection is (to quote the sampled hook) “fresh to death”? Then you can expect plenty more smooth hip-hop goodness on Audible Doctor’s The Spread EP (Vocal Version), set to hit the ‘net May 12.
