Audio Push - Come as You Are

Posted 2 years ago
Producer:
Key Wane
Album:
Come As You Are

Unfortunately for myself and other fans of bizarre covers, Audio Push‘s latest feature is not a hip-hop rendition of Nirvana’s 1992 grunge classic of the same name—though Kurt Cobain’s vocals do turn up on the outro. But the reality of Come as You Are is nearly as audacious, and the cut will most definitely come as a surprise to those who haven’t been following their artistic development since they hit the scene in ‘09. Released along with stark, black-and-white visuals by Nem Perez, this single finds the Inland Empire reppers delivering complex, confrontational bars over the stark street boardwork of Key Wane. As if it weren’t abundantly clear, Oktane emphasizes the break he and Pricetag have made with their early style in his opening 16: “I hate when people bring up Tech Me How to Jerk, ‘cause now my lyrics murk / and they just salty I’m amazing at it.” Fans can find Come as You Are and much more on the HS87 signees’ street album of the same name, available now online.
