Fresh off last week’s release of Can’t Walk Away, which received quite the warm welcome inside the Booth, New York City emcee AWAR continues his new music assault with Elephant Gun. On the new single the 518 representer takes no prisoners, diving head first into the record with his aggressive lyrical stylings. Throughout the song the rapper calmly warns, “Some of y’all had a hell of a run/Now you’re staring down the barrel of my elephant gun.” AWAR enlists noted Seattle beatsmith Jake One for the jungle-inspired production, which flaunts an impressive, slightly reggae-tinged beat that serves as a welcomed contrast to the emcee’s bold lyricism. Lookout for AWAR’s The Laws Of Nature, which is set for release, both in stores and digitally, on August 7.
