Baron Von Alias - Move Over

Producer:
Khrysis
Album:
TBD

Way back in October of 2009, Baron von Alias proved that looking like a “British Monopoly guy” (as one reader reviewer put it) is no hindrance to spitting magma-hot rhymes on his first (and, to date, last) Booth feature, Overload. Nearly a year and a half later, the UK representative’s mic skills have only grown sharper, as evidenced by new single Move Over. Recently heard backing King Mez on the Booth-sponsored King’s Khrysis, North Carolina beatsmith Khrysis mans the boards, layering sampled brass over boom-bap percussion to bombastic effect as Alias warns sucker emcees to step aside or get bulldozed. Of course, this isn’t your typical brand of braggadicious lyrical fire; on the contrary, von Alias starts out complex (“I’m the word linker, tinkerin’ with synchronization, takin’ it to other levels far beyond your safe zone…”) and ramps it up from there, bombarding listeners with eccentric imagery and off-kilter turns of phrase. It’s fresh, to be sure, but is Baron von Alias’ lyrically dense style going to translate to stateside success? Debate away – and keep it locked for all the latest details on his forthcoming, as-yet-untitled studio album.
