Barrington Levy ft. Busta Rhymes & Kardinal Offishall - No War

It's About Time

Hip-hop has gotten a bad rap (no pun intended), as several organizations and media outlets (most notably Fox News) have accused the genre of “glorifying violence.”  Knowing that dancehall has been accused of many of the same crimes, 34-year veteran Barrington Levy has enlisted two MCs known for their reggae-influenced rhyme patterns to speak in defense. Although neither Levy, Busta Rhymes nor Kardinal Offishall is the type to go down without a fight, they can nonetheless stand united in the hope that they’ll live to see the day that there is No War.  Over Platinum Camp Productions’ keyboard-choral backdrop (mixed with President-Elect Obama’s victory speech in Chicago’s Grant Park), No War does what urban music is meant to do: give voice to the hopes and dreams of the common man.
