BBU ft. Mic Terror - Spaghetti

Featuring:
Producer:
Tony Baines
Album:
bell hooks

Hope y’all like Italian; on their latest feature, BBU serve hip-hop heads everywhere a steaming bowl of,  “Spaghetti, spaghetti, spaghetti, spaghetti…” The latest leak off their newly-released bell hooks tape, this standout cut and potential single finds the crew who brought us Kurt De La Rocha once again defying listener expectations, combining an eclectic set of ideas and influences that nonetheless manage to work brilliantly together. Here, beatsmith Tony Baines flips a sample from Melvin Bliss’ Synthetic Substitution by way of the Ultramagnetic MCs’ classic Ego Trippin as Jasson Perez, Epick and Illekt mix left-field cultural allusions with social commentary: “Used to beat up white boys in Camaros / Now I OD on bell hooks and Miss DiFranco / No I’m not a racist, no I’m not a terrorist / Just want white America to go see a therapist.” Complete with a guest verse by Chi-town underground mainstay Mic Terror, and an oddball chorus blending two of Dave Chappelle’s most hilarious moments, this joint is just one of many bangers to be found on the restlessly-creative crew’s latest street album. Released on January 21, the project is available now from the group’s Bandcamp page.
