Beanie Sigel ft. 50 Cent - I Go Off

The marketing/publicity juggernaut that is 50 Cent shows absolutely no signs of slowing down. Not only did the man just release the solid Before I Self Destruct, but like a shark that smells blood in the water, Fiddy heard Beanie Sigel’s Jay-Z diss track Average Cat and saw an opportunity to stick it to Hova and garner some serious attention. Hence the new Beanie Sigel and 50 collaboration I Go Off, a boom-bap track designed to capitalize on rumors that Beanie will be soon signing to G-Unit. Musically Beanie drops a street-level flow that’s impressively powerful (“I don’t shoot s**t, I gun it down”), but unfortunately 50 decides to go back to the quasi-singing hook thing I was hoping he’d finally dropped. It’s a solid track, but let’s be honest, I Go Off is more of a publicity stunt than a musical endeavor (the track’s not attached to any project…yet). Or as 50 says in the intro, “I’ll give you something to talk about.” Mission accomplished.
