Album:
Detroit

Now that Big Sean‘s brand spanking new Detroit mixtape has had a little time to soak in everyone’s ears, it should come as no surprise that there’s quite a few cuts off the project that are receiving a hefty amount of attention. Among those records is stand out selection 24K Of Gold, which features noted Roc Nation spitter J. Cole. The record comes across as surprisingly mellow and a welcomed change for the Detroit emcee whose past singles have been known to shake a rump or two. I mean, the guy has a song called Dance (A$$).  Sean also takes on the songs hook, which seems to serve as a nod to Nas’ 1996 cut If I Ruled The World, as he sings, “Wishing I could wrap my whole life up in 24K of gold/ Lately I been dreaming about diamonds and pearls, yep diamonds and pearls/ And enough money I could rule the world.” Keeping with the lax vibe of 24K Of Gold is producer keY Wane who mellows out the production with subtle scratches and laidback keys. Be sure to check out Detroit, which is available for free stream and download on DJBooth, in its entirety.
