What do you do after you drop a highly acclaimed mixtape, get signed by a major label, perform all over award shows, have your debut album go #1, release numerous hit songs and get nominated for a slew of Grammys, 5 in all? You release another mixtape. I know the story sounds more than a little unusual, but B.o.B (a.k.a. Bobby Ray) is anything but conventional. And instead of resting on his laurels, he’s obviously still out to prove something with the first leak from his upcoming No Genre mixtape, Beast Mode. Here B.o.B. absolutely spazzes out over the Infinity crafted beat, jumping all over the bouncy production with a more aggressive style than we’re used to. Lyrically, Bobby Ray touches on a wide range of topics, from his own success to whether or not he can actually be classified as a rapper, with the skill and complexity we’ve come to expect. With No Genre dropping on Tuesday and the video already in rotation, expect B.o.B. to make 2011 even better than his “freshman” campaign…as nearly impossible as that may be.
