When you’re involved in the plethora of shadiness that is the music industry it’s easy to become cynical, but every so often the good guy really does finish first; and by good guy I mean B.o.B. After years of setbacks things are finally looking up Bobby Ray (how does a top ten hit sound?), and once the public gets a taste of his expansive musical versatility on tracks like Satellite, the sky’s the limit. Although Satellite was originally leaked last year, today we have the album quality, mixed and mastered version of the track that finds B.o.B. foregoing the Bet I Bust rhyme style in favor of some sonically floating instrumentation and production, courtesy of the man himself, and appropriately spacey vocals that Bobby, somewhat inexplicably, decides to deliver in an English accent on the second verse. Why? I don’t know, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility to assume he was, um, “high.” B.o.B.’s long-awaited debut album The Adventures of Bobby Ray, which will include Satellite as a bonus track, will finally reach orbit on April 27.
