Bobby Creekwater - Master of Ceremonies

By | 7 years ago
Track: Master of Ceremonies
Producer: Unknown
Album: Unreleased

As most of you already know, the abbreviation “MC” (or “emcee”) stands for Master of Ceremonies, a title with a long and storied history both in and out of hip-hop (if you were curious, Wikipedia says it was first used to refer to a Catholic official in the papal court – who knew?).  On this previously-unreleased record, Shady Records up-and-comer Bobby Creekwater uses the term to position himself as a new-school rapper with plenty of old-school cred, and proves his worthiness to bear that mantle in three free-association verses, referencing everyone from Jason Voorhees to R2-D2 along the way.  The (unfortunately unknown) producer, however, is arguably the star of this record, contributing a subtly-shifting, multilayered beat centered around one heck of a piano sample.  If you’re a Creekwater fan, be sure to keep your eyes glued to the Booth – later this month, the ATL native will sit down for an exclusive interview with our own DJ Z.
