Brandy - Let Me Go

Posted 4 years ago

Thus far in the lead-up to her sixth studio album, Brandy‘s received a warmer reception for the rap-infused, Breezy-assisted Put It Down than her more traditional R&B follow-up, Wildest Dreams. As you may have guessed from the name in the “producer” slot, third single Let Me Go cleaves closer to the former’s experimental style—but that doesn’t mean listeners in the market for soulful melodies will walk away disappointed. Bangladesh throws Lykke Li’s Don’t You Let Me Go Tonight into the blender on this club-ready cut, slicing, dicing, chopping and screwing the Swedish singer/songwriter’s vocals over a bed of slippery synths and syncopated percussion. For her part, Brandy cuts through the aural chaos with romantically-devoted verses and glittering, overdubbed harmonies. Time to weigh in, Booth readers: does Miss Norwood have a hit on her hands? If you like what you’re hearing, then stay tuned for the latest as we approach Two Eleven‘s October 16, drop date.
