Bruno Mars - When I Was Your Man
Yesterday on Twitter, Bruno Mars admitted that the release of his sophomore set’s final pre-album single had him feeling a little shaken up: “Soon you guys will hear a song I wrote called When I Was Your Man. I’ve never been this nervous. Can’t explain it.” Today, we’re proud to present the record that inspired his frayed nerves—a stripped-down ballad on the topic of romantic regret. Mars’ own Smeezingtons provide an intimate, unadorned piano accompaniment as the singer pours his heart out to an ex-girl, expressing his earnest hope that her new man is giving her all the love and attention he was unwilling, or unable to provide when they were together. Cameron Duddy directs the cut’s ultra-minimal promo visual. For this emotionally-charged jam, previously-featured jams Locked out of Heaven, Young Girls and Moonshine, and much more, cop Mars’ Unorthodox Jukebox LP when it hits record stores and online retailers December 11, via Atlantic Records.
