Established by Dutch colonists way back in 1624, New York City ain’t exactly “New” anymore. Queens natives Bryant Dope and Hannibal King may not have the means to found a whole new metropolis, but they do possess the musical talents to showcase their city in a fresh, new light. On NNY, the latest single and pseudo-title track off their forthcoming collaborative LP, the emcee-producer duo do just that. Over his partner’s jazzy, laid-back sample work (drawn from Gil Scott-Heron’s NYC (Don’t Know Why I Love You)), Dope vividly describes the sights and sounds of the streets where he came up. Manhattan neighbor and fellow Booth regular ANTHM guests, reflecting on his own NYC upbringing in a spirited closing verse. Fans will be able to find this joint, the reader-approved Champion Sound and many more fresh cuts on New New York, which currently lacks a drop date. As always, you can keep it locked for the latest.
