A Piece of the Action

From Kris Kross to Outkast, memorable hip-hop duos have continuously graced our radio waves.  2008 will prove to be no different with the reemergence of veteran group Camp Lo.  Consisting of rappers Salahadeen Wilds and Saladine Wallace, also known as Sonny Cheeba and Geechi Suede, the group was formed in 1995 after a mutual friend introduced the two emcees. Hailing from The Bronx, they describe their sound as neo-soul hip-hop. Their music is known for its use of Blaxploitation-style Dadaist slang, with their newest single Lumdi being no exception. The track, produced by Durham, North Carolina native Korleon and seven-time beat battle champion, The Apple Juice Kid, comes off the forthcoming A Piece of the Action album and tells the story of a sexy woman, or a “Lumdi.” With an addictive, catchy hook and an equally captivating beat, the fellas might have a perfect summer hit.
