In 1982, a reggae group named the Mighty Diamonds released the song Pass The Kutchie.  Since the song referenced the smoking and passing of marijuana, it received no radio play.  Later that year, however, UK group The Musical Youth did a cover of the song and changed “Kutchie” to “Dutchie” (meaning a pot you cook with, not smoke).  Magically, it entered the charts and rose as high as #10 at Billboard.  Now, 26 years later, Cam’ron has enacted producer Scram Jones to re-sample the classic song for himself.  The end result?  A very catchy (the Diplomats have always been known for their sampling) version of the newly titled, Pass Da Dutchie, and serious consideration for inclusion on Cam’s upcoming album.
