Chiddy Bang - By Your Side

Yuri Beats and Xaphoon

Many a dope song has been lost in the fog of hip-hop history because a sample couldn’t be cleared, but thanks to the wonder of the digital age artists facing a sample barrier too high to climb can now take matters into their own hands. In that spirit, Philly duo Chiddy Bang drop off new single By Your Side, a soulfully unwinding cut originally intended for their upcoming Breakfast album but now seeing the light of day via YouTube. Given everything I’ve written so far I’m counting on The DJBooth readers to track down the sample producers Xaphoon (of Chiddy Bang) and Yuri Beats used to create their kinetically driving but haunting beat. Regardless of its source, emcee Chiddy uses the sample as a springboard to verses swearing his undying love to fans of the group, and fine females who know how to fill out some of that Chiddy Bang merchandise. So while it won’t contain By Your Side, with offerings like this and confirmed album single Ray Charles fans can expect to enjoy eating Breakfast when it finally drops on February 21.
