Childish Gambino - Candler Road

Posted 2 years ago
Producer:
Tim Suby, Donald Glover
Album:

If you Google the song title of Childish Gambino‘s new record, Candler Road, all you will find is results for Childish Gambino’s new record. (If you use Google Maps, you will see that there is actually a road by this name, which is located in Decatur, Georgia. This has nothing to do with the record, though.) In just a smidgen over three minutes, the actor/comedian/rapper does his best Jay Pharoah, at times rapping like he is a Transformer emcee made up of equal parts Drake, Kanye and Migos. More than halfway through the song, CG spits the line, “Good year, my career is floating, its all me, cause I stayed real.”  While we agree that the buzzmaker has had a good 2015, gaining acclaim and respect in the hip-hop world, this effort is anything by the exemplification of “staying real.” More like, really following your peers.
