Childish Gambino - Centipede

Posted 3 years ago
Producer:
Uncredited
Album:
None (Promo Single)

Fresh off lending his guest vocals to DJ Reflex‘s Body So Tight, which currently sits at #8 on our Club Hip Hop Chart, Donald “Childish Gambino” Glover returns to our pages with his first solo feature since May 2012’s Silk Pillow. Released Tuesday via Twitter, Centipede finds the emcee reflecting on various aspects on his personal life—from the conflict between business and relationships to his worries over his brother’s future—over an uncredited beatsmith’s shapeshifting production. In addition to his emotionally-charged bars, Gambino delivers the record’s soulfully mumbled chorus. An extended sample from Behind the Lava Lamp, an online documentary about Harlem rapper Charles Hamilton, caps the record off. This joint isn’t part of a larger project but, given that Glover has stepped back from Community to focus on his music, more fresh material can’t be far away.
